A reasonable printer but has problems which you learn to circumvent with use (unlike reviewers who use it once and pontificate).
If one of the cartridges is empty, the whole printer stops. WIll not print even black even if one colour cartridge empty. Alternative sources that are very cost-effective compared to expensive consumables available. Printhead in the machine rather than in the cartridge, so prints well and has no cartridge problems.
Network printing easy to set up; never did get network scanning to work. Brother UK could not help. Paper jams easily cleared. Printing from USB really a gimmick, do not try it. However scanning through USB works well to the single machine that can be connected.
Do not believe reviewers - they just take the specs and run a test - ask the users.
A workhorse printer adequate for most with an advantage that it can be connected to the home network.

| Problems: Cartridge lever fragile - may break. |
